Presses de l'enssib
Since their founding in 1993, the "Presses de l’enssib" have published about 45 books: works of real quality aimed at professionals, students and researchers in the field of information science and libraries.
As with any other publishing house, the titles have met with varying degrees of success ; some have had to be reprinted, which is always gratifying for a small specialist publisher like us.
The "Presses de l’enssib" needed to find a new life: the world of publishing has been revolutionized with the advent of digitalization, and bringing out literature in the field of information science and libraries remains a challenge. So 2008-2009 years have been dedicated to the reorganization of the editorial offering and our management approach.
In 2008, the editorial policy of the "Presses de l’enssib" has thus been renewed, to be structured around two main axes, one more theoretical, the second more practical. This results in two collections, of which visual identity has been reinvented : "Papiers", which explores new fields of research, and the return of "La boîte à outils", which fulfills our commitment to continue our educational mission to the professionals.
Since July 2009, the "Bulletin des bibliothèques de France" joined enssib location in Villeurbanne, offering the opportunity to further strengthen the existing ties between the journal and the publications.
To do this, the two entities are now grouped in the Service des éditions, designed to ensure greater consistency as for editorial practices, financial matters,...
Since July 2009 also, distribution of the "Presses de l’enssib" is provided by the CID, "Centre interinstitutionnel pour la diffusion de publications en sciences humaines", for booksellers and agencies, ensuring our publications better visibility with a partner which already distributes many university publications.
Many changes that appeal to others, for example the development of publishing in digital form, which we are considering for future volumes of the "Papiers" and "La Boîte à outils" collections, even though the "Bulletin des bibliothèques de France" - probably the only French journal in the humanities to do so - has long offered its entire collection as free access on the web (http://bbf.enssib.fr).
