Course aims and objectives
The Masters in Information and Library Science is a two-year professional course allowing all holders of a degree or an equivalent to acquire a theoretical grasp of Information Science in one of the following fields :- Scientific and technical information management for businesses (GISTE)
- Digital documentary services (SDN)
- Multilingual information systems (SIMIL)

Required level
Baccalaureate/equivalent + 3-year degree or equivalent.
The transition from First to Second Year is not automatic and requires a favourable opinion from a pedagogical committee.

Careers
Employment sectors include documentation services, specialist libraries, creation and management of access services for specialist information, monitoring, information management, knowledge management, etc. Jobs are available in both the public and private sectors, and with non-profit organisations. According to their qualifications and career goals graduates may look towards the cultural domain, industry, training and research, the media, the civil service and the digital field.

Assessment
This varies from one study unit to another and is outlined in the description of each unit. The course closes with defence of a thesis and an internship report.

Study Programme
The Masters in Information and Library Science comprises a single major: Specialist Information Management and Processing. Students can design their own study programmes, beginning with a common skills and knowledge base and choosing from among three options :
- Scientific and technical information management for businesses (GISTE)
- Digital documentary services (SDN)
- Multilingual information systems and language engineering (SIMIL)
The student must obtain all the requisite credits in one option, one credit in another, and one further credit of his or her choice.
The course lasts two years. The first year comprises a core curriculum. The second year is devoted to the chosen option, the internship and the thesis.
