Résumé :
Les bibliothèques de Grande-Bretagne ont, chacune, leur propre système de catalogage qui s'inspire, pour certains, du code du « British Museum » et pour d'autres du code édité par la « Library association » en 1908, en accord avec l'« American library association ». Lorsque parut la British national bibliography en 1950, la nécessité d'une uniformisation se fit sentir. Actuellement, un comité britannique et un comité américain travaillent ensemble à la révision du nouveau code de catalogage établi en Amérique pendant la guerre. On espère aboutir à un code commun à tous les pays de langue anglaise. Il est cependant probable que ce nouveau code ne recevra une forme définitive que compte tenu des résultats de la Conférence internationale sur les principes de catalogage
