Information Literacy (IL) hat das Ziel die Nutzer mit den Mitteln auszustatten, um Informationen von Grund auf zu beherrschen. Die Autorin des Artikels gibt einen umfassenden Überblick über die wichtigsten Tendenzen im Zusammenhang mit IL in Universitätsbibliotheken: überall werden sowohl die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Lehr- und Fachpersonal diskutiert, als auch der Inhalt der Programme und die institutionelle Anerkennung gekoppelt mit der Bewertung von Ausbildung und von den Studenten. Aber auch außerhalb der Bibliotheken betrifft Informationskompetenz alle Bürger: es geht um wirtschaftssoziologische, kulturelle und schulische Fragen, mit denen man sich mittlerweile auch auf internationaler Ebene beschäftigt.

Information Literacy has as its aim to give users the means to acquire a real command of information. The author of the article gives an overview of the main trends of IL in university libraries: collaboration between teaching staff and information professionals, content of programmes and institutional recognition, linked to an evaluation of training for students, are the subject of debate across the country. But outside libraries, IL concerns all citizens: the challenges are socio-economical, cultural and educational. It has become a preoccupation at international level.

L'Information Literacy (IL) tiene por objetivo dar al usuario los medios de adquirir un real dominio de la información. El autor del artículo levanta un panorama de las grandes tendencia en IL en las bibliotecas universitarias: la colaboración docentes/profesionales de la información, el contenido de los programas y el reconocimiento institucional, ligado a la evaluación de las formaciones y de los estudiantes, están en debate en todos los países. Pero más allá de las bibliotecas, el IL concierne a todos los ciudadanos: los retos son socioeconómicos, culturales y educativos. Se ha vuelto una preocupación a escala internacional.

L'Information Literacy (IL) a pour but de donner à l'usager les moyens d'acquérir une réelle maîtrise de l'information. L'auteur de l'article dresse un panorama des grandes tendances en IL dans les bibliothèques universitaires : la collaboration enseignants/professionnels de l'information, le contenu des programmes et la reconnaissance institutionnelle, liée à l'évaluation des formations et des étudiants, font débat dans tous les pays. Mais au-delà des bibliothèques, l'IL concerne tous les citoyens : les enjeux sont socio-économiques, culturels et éducatifs. C'est devenu une préoccupation à l'échelle internationale.
