The issue of mass digitization drew the attention to orphan works, thick corpus which is unusable without a copyright holder’s agreement. Although their definition is problematic, some countries introduced strategies to reduce their number and make possible their use. Some experiments at different levels enable us to have better information about these works and about the relevance of possible solutions in France.
