More often than not, sciences are neglected by local public librar-ies. This is mainly due to the belief that a science collection is difficult for librar-ies to maintain, that library users show too little interest for the area and that there is a gap in editorial supply. Such assumptions might have been valid a decade ago, but do they still hold true today? What role can public libraries play to encourage the spread of interest in science in France? What course of action should they take to do so?
