Résumé en anglais :
Contemporary museum architecture and its new-found status as a work of art in its own right – architecture as exhibit – is frequently problematic in terms of the museum's primary function: facilitating access to culture and knowledge, creating spaces that serve the objects on display and enabling them to fulfill their remit in terms of heritage, education, and culture. The development of museum architecture as spectacle has gone hand in hand with culture taking a back seat to the economy. However, noteworthy exceptions and successful projects allow for a degree of optimism for the future.
